This is one of those books that I should not have been reading before a strict bedtime。 I liked that most chapters ended on a cliffhanger, and then the narrator switched so I was hooked。 My only complaint is that there seem to be a lot of characters, and so every so often I was struggling to remember who somebody was。

Intriguing mysteryThis intriguing mystery is a twisted tale about a murder of a talented artist in a small coastal town in New England。 Her sister and two strangers discover the artist’s body, and tension builds as a six-year old little girl is missing。 The plot thickens as a visiting police officer is drawn into the case。 What is finally revealed leads the reader to appreciate anew the importance of family, community, and love — as well as to consider what is important in our own lives。 Well wr Intriguing mysteryThis intriguing mystery is a twisted tale about a murder of a talented artist in a small coastal town in New England。 Her sister and two strangers discover the artist’s body, and tension builds as a six-year old little girl is missing。 The plot thickens as a visiting police officer is drawn into the case。 What is finally revealed leads the reader to appreciate anew the importance of family, community, and love — as well as to consider what is important in our own lives。 Well written and with carefully developed characters, this is a fascinating read。 。。。more

Maddie Morrison had loved staying at the Ocean House in Rhode Island since she was a child。 In the middle of a divorce, she takes her daughter CeCe up to the Ocean House to see their new retreat。 Maddie was famous as the artist MC, and had bought herself one of the apartments of the hotel that overlooked the ocean。 On their first night on the beach, she had taken CeCe out for a walk in the blizzard。 Her body was later found on a beach entreway with a bullet in the middle of her head。 But though Maddie Morrison had loved staying at the Ocean House in Rhode Island since she was a child。 In the middle of a divorce, she takes her daughter CeCe up to the Ocean House to see their new retreat。 Maddie was famous as the artist MC, and had bought herself one of the apartments of the hotel that overlooked the ocean。 On their first night on the beach, she had taken CeCe out for a walk in the blizzard。 Her body was later found on a beach entreway with a bullet in the middle of her head。 But though they were able to determine that CeCe was with her, she was no where to be found。 So not only were the Police looking for a killer but also into a potential kidnapping。Maddie's fame was based on a watercolor that she did years ago featuring a swan flying over a whale。 It became an icon of her generation and was found on kitch and t-shirts like the Peanuts kids or the characters of Sesame Street。 There was controversy as to who had designed the iconic painting and there were still hard feelings among her original collaborators。 Had someone sought revenge? 。。。more

I overall liked this book and the writing style。 It was a bit of a slower burn for me but I liked the little hints along the way。 It wasn’t my favorite but I enjoyed the story。 I plan to read Last Day which actually comes before this book and seems to be related but not a series。 I’d recommend this one as a quick read。

Maddie took her daughter to a path on the beach during a snow storm to meet someone。 When she is murdered her daughter disappears。 Who wanted her dead? There are a lot of people in her life who aren’t who they appear。 This is a good story with a little girl you will root for。 There are a few twists in the story too。 Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy。

A famous artist is killed in a bad storm, the victims daughter is missing, a man wanting to spend a weekend with his soon to be fiancé, just some of the stories in this book that will keep you guessing。 I thought that this was a very entertaining book。

This book was ok。 It had its good moments and then it started getting boring。 There were parts that the author could have left out。 To long and to much info。 Couldn't wait till the end。 This book was ok。 It had its good moments and then it started getting boring。 There were parts that the author could have left out。 To long and to much info。 Couldn't wait till the end。 。。。more

Quick, Entertaining ReadGreat visualization - I could feel the cold。 Easy to connect with characters。 I’m now interested in reading more of Luanne Rice’s novels。

Another good one!I think this is the second Luanne Rice story I've read。 There is a slight nod to the other, and I think those little connections among stand alone novels。 This start to drag a bit about 75% into it but ended strong。 The title was appropriate。 :) Another good one!I think this is the second Luanne Rice story I've read。 There is a slight nod to the other, and I think those little connections among stand alone novels。 This start to drag a bit about 75% into it but ended strong。 The title was appropriate。 :) 。。。more

Whodunit where sufficient “curves”, rather than twists, gently leads reader to ponder the antagonist without writer ego。 This one will keep you reading straight to the end。 and don’t you just love it when a child is the hero?

Meh。 Was interested in the story taking place in Rhode Island but by the third chapter the RI references in every single paragraph started making me grind my teeth。 (Maybe I'm not as much as a RI'er as I thought!) It's just all so contrived and forced。 (Everything, not just the references。) Meh。 Was interested in the story taking place in Rhode Island but by the third chapter the RI references in every single paragraph started making me grind my teeth。 (Maybe I'm not as much as a RI'er as I thought!) This just wasn't that great。 The dialogue was flat, the storybuilding had a lot of potential and was also。。。 flat。I finished because I needed to know the end but it was not great。 This just wasn't that great。 The dialogue was flat, the storybuilding had a lot of potential and was also。。。 flat。I finished because I needed to know the end but it was not great。 。。。more

easy readThis book was an easy read, and took place in an area of the country I have little experience with, so it was interesting。 Not sure I will remember the story line for long。

I read for the setting because I know the area well。 Story was good but I don’t feel the need to recommend to others

This didn’t do it for me。 It felt like it dragged out in the beginning and then just kind of went on and on and on…。 I didn’t really feel any thrill or suspense either。 I guess I didn’t really connect to the characters。 This was an Amazon first reads and has over 4 star rating so I thought it’d be a win。 3 stars for me and that’s generous。

Disappointed I pretty much did a fast skim on most of the pages in this book。 Sometimes turning 5 at a time because the story was shallow enough。 It was also pretty predictable so I could skip ahead to another chapter and still know what was going on。 I'm sure it's a good read for some people, but it just wasn't what I was looking for at the time I wanted a page turner but this was not it for me。 I only turned the pages to get to the end of the book Disappointed I pretty much did a fast skim on most of the pages in this book。 Sometimes turning 5 at a time because the story was shallow enough。 It was also pretty predictable so I could skip ahead to another chapter and still know what was going on。 I'm sure it's a good read for some people, but it just wasn't what I was looking for at the time I wanted a page turner but this was not it for me。 I only turned the pages to get to the end of the book 。。。more

This book was almost 4 stars, but for me, the end bumped it down to three。 It was a good storyline that grabbed me from the beginning。 But then the ending came together in just a few pages and with one character telling how it all went down。 It was like the author had a deadline, so she had to wrap everything up。 This is not a freshman author, so I expected more。
